TWO Projects

Hello. I've got two mail-art calls going on right now, and I'd like to invite you to participate. Thanks - David Aronson

Honoring the Shadow

The Shadow is a psychological term introduced by the late Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. It is everything in us that is repressed, undeveloped and denied, both dark and light. The shadow represents all that the conscious person does not wish to acknowledge within themselves. Jung emphasized the importance of being aware of shadow material and incorporating it into conscious awareness. Otherwise we project these attributes onto others.
Honor your shadow by giving it visual form.
All mediums are welcome.
Deadline: December 31 2010.
Artworks will be permanently displayed on my website.

Need help collecting

Hi,
Im currently doing a project on Movie Promotion and I am looking into how Mail Art can be used to affectively promote them. One of the films I am looking at is "Catch Me If You Can". Im concentrating on how the main character is always tearing labels off bottles etc.

It would be amazing if people could start tearing off any labels they find and sending them to me. I also thought it might be quite nice if the envelopes were decorated in some way.

My address is:
121c Liberty Park,
Malborough St,
Leeds,

Any help would be much aprectiated

Mail Art Project of the TUFA in Trier

Hello, and a warm welcome to the Mail Art Project of the TUFA in Trier.

Art by post!

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the TUFA in Trier with the Mail Art Project!
In 2010 the Arts Centre of the City of Trier, the cloth factory (locally known as the Tuchfabrik, abbreviated to TUFA,) will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Earlier the TUFA was indeed a cloth mill, producing cloth. Now the TUFA is an arts centre, producing cultural assets with theatre, music, art, dance, literature etc. The TUFA has excellent exhibition rooms in which we would like to feature a jubilee display. You can join in!

Artists, painters, graphic artists, photographers, poets and those who would like to be, coming from Trier and its partner towns throughout the world: LET'S HEAR FROM YOU BY POST!
Please send us an artistic postcard on the theme of TUFA the Arts Centre, on the subject of cloth and/or celebrating our birthday. Any format that reaches us by post will be admitted. All original work signed and stamped reaching us by 31th May 2010 (no emails please) will be included in the autumn 2010 exhibition. Your postcards will be uploaded onto the internet and we hope to create an exhibition catalogue there. What will happen to the postcards after the exhibition? We would like to take care of the cards, perhaps to exhibit them in one or several partner towns, or auction them for charitable causes.

Send your postcards to:
Mail-Art-Projekt
TUFA Trier
Wechselstrasse 4-6
54290 Trier
Deutschland/Germany

Don't forget to include your address or email address. You may well hear back from us by post!
The TUFA Arts Committee persons:
Rainer Breuer, Martina Diedrich, Herbert Lauer, Gabriele Lohberg.
By participation in the Mail-Art-Projekt, artists cede ownership rights free of charge to the TUFA within the framework of its catalogue and poster print and internet media.

Our project is still in its infancy and lots more remains to be said by way of introduction, so we have no more info as yet. This will change in the coming weeks, as soon as for example, we can give you the exact date of the exhibition, when we receive the first postcards and answer any questions that you may have etc. We invite you above all to send in plenty of creative input (artistic postcards), which we would like to exhibit as creatively as possible.

Have fun!
From the TUFA Arts Committee.

Postal Project

We would like to set up a project that enables people to ‘generate’ a random address for them to write to. The big idea is to send people letters, and receive letters yourself. You won’t know this person but they may have something interesting to say, they may not.

We think it will be fun, who knows what will happen?

Aim?

We would like to create a website that anyone can join. When you join our website, this will enable you to generate a random address, this will be the address you will write to. When you join you can also create a profile on which you can upload/scan in your received letters.

From this archive of peoples post, we would like to create a publication, which could be in the form of a magazine or a book. If the project grows to be very popular, we would like to publish yearly annuals.

FIRST AND FORMOST!

We thought it would be a grand idea to have an event of address swapping, to start the ball rolling, and to begin our archiving of addresses.

WE NEED YOU TO SEND US YOUR ADRESSES!

START DATE; MARCH 2010

END DATE; DEC 2010

If you’d like to be involved, then send us a postcard with your address on!

Postcards can be of any size and contain any artwork/text/visuals but must have your postal address on them.

Your address will be exhibited at an event in York, England (date TBC). People who attend the event will choose an address from the exhibition-style event, and they will send you a letter!

We will document everything we have received, and the event via our tumblr page;

http://postalproject.tumblr.com

This project has 3 inventors, so 3 adresses for you lot to choose from!

ARTE POSTALE! 100 / KLANG!

One of the best known and probably the most long-lived mail art magazine on the planet, Arte Postale!, published since 1979 by Near the Edge editions, has assembled original works and published materials by hundreds of international networkers. The project is considered concluded with issue n. 100 (December 2009), a documentation of the show of “postal sounds” and artist’s musical instruments Bzzzoing!, part of the Klang! suoni contemporanei sonic arts festival (Viareggio, 7-8-9 August 2009).
Arte Postale! 100 has 36 pages with all texts in English and Italian plus a CD-R with audio tracks and multimedia contents (see intro and cd contents in the attached file). You can order a copy by sending Euro 12.00 or $ 15.00 with International Postal Money Order or cash well hidden in registered envelope to: Vittore Baroni, Via C. Battisti 339, 55049 Viareggio, Italy.
The cost includes postage, the zine is sent by air mail outside Europe.

A perfect companion to Arte Postale! 100 is the Klang! suoni contemporanei catalogue, a small cardboard box that contains:
- 3 booklets (64 pages total) with texts in Italian and images of audio art works and installations selected from over one hundred international authors included in the show
- a small folded poster with the illustrated programme of the festival
- a colour sticker with the Klang! logo
- an audio cd with unpublished audio tracks by 16 artists, poets, musicians and performers: ANTONINO BOVE, PIETRO RIPARBELLI / K11, ANDREA BORGHI, TANIA LORANDI, ROD SUMMERS & THE DON MARTIN HERD, ARRIGO LORA TOTINO, PAOLO ALBANI, ENOMÍSOSSAB, MANITÙ ROSSI, ADOLFINA DE STEFANI e ANTONELLO MANTOVANI / LIIBAAN, IGNAZIO LAGO, SCOTT RAY RANDALL, PHILIP CORNER, CABIRIA , VIPCANCRO.

The Klang! catalogue complete with CD and DVD is available for € 20.00 or $ 25.00 (including postage), send an International Postal Money Order or cash well hidden in registered envelope to: Vittore Baroni, Via C. Battisti 339, 55049 Viareggio, Italy.

ART DETOX 2010

Do you feel oppressed by too many art invites, shows and projects? tired of being burdened and clogged by bad art toxins?
Every time two or more artists meet in 2010 to discuss and/or promote a therapeutic ecology of art, you have a session of ART DETOX

THREE EASY STEPS TO A COMPLETE ART DETOX EXPERIENCE
1 - think about all the art excesses that prevent you from having a pure and healthy creative life
2 - conceive and organize your own private or public ART DETOX session
3 - document it and share it with others on http://artdetox2010.ning.com/

Following the tradition of the Mail Art Congress of 1986, the Decentralized World Wide Networker Congress of 1992, the Incongruous Meetings project of 1998 and the Obscure Actions project of 2004, the global networking open project ART DETOX (a year of artistic detoxification) has entered its third month of activities. By visiting and/or joining the blog http://artdetox2010.ning.com , you will be able to see the first effects of the collective art therapy Tests # 1 (sense deprivation with head in paper bag while visiting art spaces) and # 2 (curative Art Detox Patches applied on art stressed bodies), as well as the results of Anna Banana's Art Detox Tea Party and other odd art healing events.
